Stevia Natural Sweeteners - 95% less calories than sugar, supposedly no health detriments?

So we all know about how artificial sweeteners like Equal and Splenda are supposed to be really bad for us, right? (Aspartame & Saccharin being the evil ingredients…) Well recently I’ve discovered a new phenomena, and while I may be late on the band wagon, some of you may still not have heard of it.
The Stevia plant is naturally very low in calories but extremely sweet tasting. It bakes and dissolves much the same way sugar does, is sweet (perhaps sweeter) than sugar - yet it does not have the calories of sugar nor does it damage your teeth.
At first I was skeptical, but I read up a bit on the net about studies conducted relating to the potential dangers of using the stevia plant as a sweetener. For me, I found this enough to take the risk. You can research and make up your own minds here.
- Stevia in Australia - Nativa Available here. I bought from from Coles, apparently it’s stocked in Woolies too! (See picture)
- Stevia in America - Truvia Available here
Let me know what your thoughts are on Stevia sweeteners. Have you ever tried them, and if you haven’t would you consider it?
